Beach Safety Video

This video was created by Joe and friends (Thomas, Cameron and Leithen). They wrote the play and then created a video using Puppet pals on the iPad. Listen to the safety rules and be safe at the beach this summer.

The first Hawea Flat school student in year 0 boys comes first in running and sprinted first at the end "good going" said Eamon he tried to do his best and he did it. Most of everyone at the Hawea Flat school came to watch.

Sarah Walker ROCKS!!!

Today Sarah Walker came to Hawea Flat School to show us her medal and tell us about her journey to the Olympics.
She learned how to ride a bike when she was 3, and started BMX biking at the age of 10. She was inspired by Danyon Loader.

Great Learning today

We are enjoying playing each other in Mathletics and completing challenges.
We are learning to make our poems and photons into short movies. Hopefully we can finish these next week.

Great day at Cardrona on Friday. The snow was actually quite good and the children were amazing. Can you guess who these people are?

Hi from the US

Hi everyone. I hope you are having a really great holiday. We are having an amazing trip including visits to LA, Boston, New York and Orlando, Florida so far. I am looking forward to seeing you after the holidays and sharing my holiday photos, and my learning with you.
The top picture is us visiting the Statue of Liberty in New York and the bottom one is of Billy outside the US Constitution in Boston.

Bendigo

What a brilliant day we had at Bendigo. We had fantasic weather, wonderful parents and amazing children who walked a long way without complaining and learnt a lot about Shaft Mining. Thank you everyone who made the day possible. A great place to have a picnic if you haven't been there yet.

Measuring in Maths

We have been measuring how large our classroom is.

First we had to work together to find out about how large a square metre is.

Then we had a guess how many people could fit into a square metre.

 There was 14 people in this sqaure metre! No room for any more.

 There are seven lovely people in this square metre!

 This group is measuring how many metres are across our classroom.

 This group is measuring the length of the classroom.

 We found out that the classroom is 9.75metres or 9 and 3/4 metres long.

We found out the classroom is 7.24 metres or approx. 7 1/4 metres wide.

Our next step is to work out the perimeter (around the edge of the class) and the area

 (all the space on the floor if we were going to replace the carpet.
