Hide and seek
As my mum
was counting, I climbed on the shelf to hide. Clip, clop, I heard her shoes
coming. Hiding under the towels, I felt scared and curled up even more. I
quickly turn my head to see what she was doing. She looked under the chair,
then in the washer, then she looked up and found me.

“1234,” I heard my Dad counting slow. I heard
footsteps coming closer, while I was lying under the covers of my bed. My arms
were flat and my legs were flat too. When I wasn’t looking my Dad sat on me. He
felt something moving under him. He stood up. He flicked the covers back.
“Found you!” he said.

Running to
the flax bush, I hear my brother counting. Then he says, “ready or not, here I
come.” Hiding in the flax, I feel my heart beat fast. Standing up, holding the
flax, I spy on Otis and my Dad, wondering when they will find me. I stand as quietly as I can. I listen for
the right time to say “Boo,” but they never found me. By Harry

“18, 20, 23, ready or not, here I come.” I tiptoed up the stairs. I ran into my
little sister’s bed bunk. I pulled the covers over me. I was lying straight
trying not to breathe. I could hear Poppy calling’ “ready or not, here I come.”
I waited for Poppy to find me, but she couldn’t. I had to come downstairs.

I ran away
from the counting … “8, 9, 10, coming ready or not.” I raced to the attic. I picked up the box and
hid the box and shut it and listened for footsteps. I heard the attic door
opening. My heart beating, I heard footsteps coming closer towards the box. “Found
you,” said Mum.
